Great use of texture brushes. I expecially like the blaster effect you got with the smoke brush.

JoshSummana responds:

Only particle brushes that were used were on the gun blaster and atmosphere around him.... He was painted with traditional media brushes :)

you have given me some tasty motivation to get a game done myself on the Shadow Legacy series. Great sprite sheet, If I wasn't a customization nutjob I would use em up.

very professional work. I always love seeing quality old school pixel game art. You would have been an easily employed sprite artist back in the hay day of good old 2D games. I look forward to playing something made by you in the near future.

Hyptosis responds:

Thanks for the kind words man, means a lot. ^_^

Very crisp details on the subject and loose painting on the rest make for a great focus on concept. Great work on this one. I would love to see it in a game.

Awesome work on this one. It's nice to see the characters in a different genra style. Lets see, Pico, Nene, Tankman? Not sure who the other girl is but I may have missed the flash.

Read Luwano's comment.

Very nice style.

I'm confused, you left out the shadow under the yeti, and his tracks lead up to the kid and stop way before they get to the yeti. Also they should get a lot bigger as they get closer to the yeti because of how far back you pushed the cave. While soft brushes can be used effectively if used cleanly, they mostly end up distracting from the good bits of the picture as they have here.

The light source is very spotlight/flashlight looking, which is fine, but it doesn't match up on the kid. Actually based on what you have here, the present is the light source.

As for the stars, if you do your starry sky first, or on its own layer, you will find that it is much easier to prevent them from clustering around the edges which will give it more of a randomized look.

Now the good bits. Your line work is nice and clean, which I always love. However when put against the blurry shadows it really looses it's charm. The textures are a nice addition, particularly at the base of the tree behind the yeti.

Saminat responds:

Thanks for the critique! That's exactly what I'm looking for, and I'm going to be making several changes before the calendar goes up.

Nice, this would be an awesome game sprite.

Whats with all the super crazy short reviews? I like this one, It's not one of the new characters like they suggested for the contest, but I could easily see this being some nice cover art.
